Saturday 8th June, 11-2pm, Northern House School, Jensen Avenue, Lanchester Way, Solihull, B36 9LF.
We're putting on our second Family Fun Day very soon. It's a fabulous FREE event for Solihull SEND children and their families. We have lots of free activities such as a bouncy castle, gaming bus, archery, crafting and alpacas. Also on offer will be free barbecue food and ice cream - but it's first come first served so don't delay! And don't worry if the weather isn't kind - we have a rainy day option so the fun can continue.
Last year we had some lovely feedback on this event so please come and enjoy the day. We look forward to seeing you there.
It's been a another busy few months for Solihull Parent Carer Forum. Aside from the usual meetings we've hosted a law event and presented results of our survey into Reasonable Adjustments! There's been some good news on the provision front as well as an announcement about our FREE Summer event. We hope you enjoy this our third newsletter!

Under the Equality Act 2010, education providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure disabled students are not discriminated against. The Solihull Parent Carer Forum noticed that “Reasonable Adjustments” within education settings in Solihull was an important topic to gain parental opinions on. We therefore designed a survey which attempted to do this, and 209 people decided to take part so thank-you! The results will help to inform future practice and policies within Solihull.
So far we have presented the results to the Ed SEND sub group and the SEND board and there has been considerable interest in the results from the Local Authority, Educational Psychologists, SISS, Schools and other professionals. In addition to the report, you can view a video presentation by Natasha Compton. If you’d like more information about Reasonable Adjustments you can visit the Disability Rights UK website where you’ll find a useful fact-sheet.

We have invited prominent, specialist SEN solicitor Gurvinder Kaur to advise parents as to the law surrounding the enormous issue of children out of school, particularly with anxiety, as well as the issue of School Transport.
Key talking points:
Our (very quick) AGM will take place prior to the legal workshop. ***NO NEED TO BOOK!***
